Miscellaneous (Props, Scream Box, etc.)
Otoscope
The main break we’ve seen is groups pulling off the clip on the side. Unfortunately, this clip also has the button to turn it off and on. We recommend before putting an otoscope in the room, wrap the bottom part of the clip in electrical tape. This prevents groups from pulling on it and greatly extends the life of your device.

Scream Box
While it is not 100% necessary for gameplay, the scream box jumpscare is a great addition to the room. If you do not have it installed, here is how you can best get it set up.
Before setting it up, you'll need to get a few things first. You can purchase the box directly through Amazon (link). Also, you'll need a USB flash drive to load the screaming audio file. The audio file can be found here.
Once you have all of the supplies, setup can commence!
- First, load the screaming file onto your USB drive.
- Then, find a good spot in the room where guests cannot touch the device (we'll list a few good examples below). Something good to keep in mind is how far your game master room is from your K2 as the box is controlled by a remote. This might impact where in the room you can put it. The remote has a long range, so you shouldn't have a huge issue, but still good to note.
- When you've found a good spot for the device, decide if you're going to have it continually plugged in and charging OR if the box is something you'll have game masters turn off and remove every time they shut the room down. It's different for everyone, so just make sure you've decided on that before implementing it in the room. If you're going to leave it plugged in and charging at all times, you can do that with the regular charger. If you will be taking it out of the room to charge, just make sure it's easy to access.
- Test the device! The audio file should have a brief three-second delay before the scream. Test it with the remote from the game master room and make sure it works.
- You're done!
Here's a few great spots we recommend:
- Sitting behind the cabinets. This is great since you'll still be able to reach it, but it's not directly within reach for guests
- Above the ceiling tiles with speaker facing down. Probably best to do that one farther away from the in-room mic!
- If you had DND, you can put it behind the wall padding where the old mirror used to be.
